The presidential race is the most well fought, with DoES, DoSDA and DoRep pretty much certain. Effort is being put into Pres analysis with the rest being finished if there is time before voting closes.
Presidential Candidates
Nate Ruby
Nate is a terrible candidate and it's not difficult to see why- perhaps his most obvious failing is that he thinks FFF (Freddie Fforde) has done a good job. Whereas Freddie simultaneously plays on his phone and intimidates members of the SRC by shouting about how long everything takes - Nate sits on the other end of the spectrum, bogging down SRC with inane nonsense nobody cares about. He even attempted to bring a representational issue to the SSC (wrong council pal! the clue's in the name -SRC Students.Representative.Council). All week Nate has shown his lack of understanding by shouting about the SSC/SRC discretionary fund (doesn't exist - shouldn't trust the FFF). When confronted about the issue live on STAR radio he claimed that the SSC must then have it's own fund which means double funding for his 'union grants' idea (already exists - see On the Rocks). Wrong again buddy, the SSC doesn't have a fund...
Nate's environmental views are at times obstructive - his insistence on the SSC/SRC not using paper has lead to some serious confusion and time wasting as members struggle to wade through 5-10 meeting documents on their laptops (for those that have brought them). A nice idea in principle but there's a reason the paperless office doesn't exist.
Nate's also gone for a no-pester campaign, choosing not to flyer but instead using plants to convince all 4 people in the STAR buzzbox.
Nate's ideas are good, but his lack of research and inability to think them through demonstrates he is a a terrible candidate for the job.

ATR's publicity campaign is frankly .. scary. Her bloodied hand approach is a little creepy.
Her main policy points are fairly uninteresting
ATR's experience is impressive and I quote "I am currently Law Society President, Vice-Principal Ambassador, Class Gift Committee Chair, Senior Chorister of the Chapel Choir; also sitting on Your600th committee and the Charities Campaign"
But it doesn't take long to notice none of that experience is UNION (ssc/src) experience. That could be a big downer.
If you want to find out more about ATR... well...
Her main policy points are fairly uninteresting
- Redevelopment - Communicate what's going on
- Accommodation - Cheap university housing is a priority for ATR, however questions have been raised (and gone unanswered) about what exactly she wants to do to Fife Park.
- Communication - Open door policy, student polls is a novel idea
- Widening Access - ATR wants to make sure that the university remains an attractive option not just to the elite.
- Community - Town and Gown and postgraduate don't feature highly in the other candidates publicity but are top 5 for ATR.

As a candidate ATR is non striking, her policies certainly shouldn't offend (or inspire) anyone and she might be a nice middle-ground between the more extreme candidates like Chloe Hill and Nate Ruby - but with her lack of relevant experience she'll have to be able to learn quickly or could end up as useful as a paperweight in an email thread.
Coming soon...
